The P1Z Series actuator in bore sizes Ø16 to Ø40mm is a double acting magnetically coupled rodless cylinder where motion is transmitted via the magnetic force between the piston and carriage. As there is no mechanical connection, the carriage can become magnetically uncoupled offering protection if there is an overload. With stainless steel cylinder tube, hard anodised aluminium carriage and anodised aluminium end plates the P1Z offers a corrosion resistant construction that provides a pressure tight, leak free system for an economical rodless solution. Available as basic or guided versions for standard temperature 0°C to +60°C and suitable for horizontal or vertical mounting options. With low speeds from 0.05m/s, high thrust up to 942N and stroke lengths of up to 2000mm gives engineers a powerful, precise and flexible option for building automation, process and handling systems.
Basic Version:
The basic version has a mobile carriage that is free to rotate 360° around the cylinder axis enabling various mounting arrangements but the load must be guided by an external device. For load fixing there are four tapped mounting holes in the anodised aluminium carriage and the cylinder is supplied with two hexagonal nuts for direct fixing via the threaded end plates or optional flange and foot mountings. All bore sizes are available with pneumatic cushioning enabling high speeds and short cycle times providing an economical solution to suit a wide range of environmental applications.
Guided Version:
The guided version consists of a carriage fitted with four plain bearings, guided on two rods. The design provides a high rigidity, accurate guidance and a non rotating movement. The guide carriage with tapped mounting holes for load fixing is fitted with a magnet for proximity position sensing. An optional aluminium rail can be attached on the same side as the (bumpers or shocks) so electronic or reed sensors can be positioned anywhere along the stroke. As standard, end of stroke cushioning for lighter loads is provided by elastomeric bumpers but for medium and heavier loads optional hydraulic shock absorbers can be suppied. Air connection is from both ends but an option is available for input at one end only. Cylinders can be mounted using the four tapped counterbored holes meaning additional mountings are not required.

• Versions :
Basic double acting
Guided double acting
• Cushioning : Bumper, adjustable pneumatic, external bumper or hydraulic shock absorber
• Position sensing : The guide carriage is fitted with a magnet for proximity position sensing. An optional aluminium rail can be attached on the same side as the cushioning elements (bumpers or shocks) so electronic or reed sensors can be positioned anywhere along the stroke. Electronic type sensors or reed switches can be supplied with either flying lead or cable plug connector.
• Installation :
Basic - Various mountings are available.
Guided - Can be mounted using the four tapped counterbored holes meaning additional mountings are not required.
• Mounting position : Any
Operating and Environmental Data:
• Operating Medium : For best possible service life and trouble-free operation dry, filtered compressed air to ISO 8573-1:2010 quality class 3.4.3 should be used. This specifies a dew point of +3°C for indoor operation (a lower dew point should be selected for minus temperature operation and we recommend the use of an inline dryer) and is in line with the air quality from most standard compressors with a standard filter.
• Operating Pressure :
Bore Ø16mm - 1.8 to 6.5 bar
Bores Ø20, Ø25, Ø32 and Ø40mm - 1.8 to 7.0 bar
• Operating Temperature : Standard temperature 0°C to +60°C
• Pre-lubricated : Further lubrication is normally not necessary. If additional lubrication is introduced it must be continued.
• Corrosion Resistance : Good resistance to corrosion.
Material Specification - Basic and Guided Version Cylinder:
• End covers : Anodised aluminium
• Cylinder barrel : Stainless steel
• Carriage : Anodised aluminium
• Seals : NBR (Nitrile rubber)
• Guide rods : Steel (chrome plated)
