Dynamic Engine Air Pre-Cleaners are designed to be mounted on or connected to the air intake of an air filter housing on gasoline or diesel engines.

Dynamic Engine Air Pre-Cleaners are usually installed in place of the rain cap, dust bowl, or aspirated pre-cleaner (exhaust system). In some applications, they can be mounted directly to the air cleaner inlet.

Equipment operated in dusty environments requires more periodic maintenance and they experience more down time. The filter in the air cleaner requires more frequent replacement as the level of airborne dust increases. A plugged filter reduces power, fuel economy, and engine component life. Racor dynamic air pre-cleaners dramatically increase the life of the air filter (up to 12 times), reduce overall intake system restriction, increase equipment productivity, reduce downtime, and save money.

How they work:

Air enters the pre-cleaner system through a screen that removes large debris. Air then flows through static vanes causing the air to spin. As the air spins, centrifugal force separates up to 90% of the dust, dirt, insects, rain, and snow from the air stream. The swirling air drives a high velocity rotor that acts as a blower evacuating contaminants through special discharge ports at the bottom or in the side of the unit. Only purified air flows to the air filters.

Sizing and Choosing your Air Pre-Cleaner:

• Measure available space for pre-cleaner for clearance reference
• Choose Pre-Cleaner model based on application and material construction from the following list:

AFAP: Heavy duty Off-highway air pre-cleaners are for agriculture, earth moving, construction, and mining equipment; as well as pumping plants, generator sets, snow removal equipment and street sweepers. Material is coated steel. Air flow 53 to 1411 cfm (1.5 to 40 m3/min) depending on product selected.

AFHP: Heavy duty On-highway air pre-cleaners for all fast moving mobile equipment applications including trucks, buses and recreational vehicles. Material is coated steel. Air flow 53 to 1411 cfm (1.5 to 40 m3/min) depending on product selected.

AFUP: On or Off-highway air pre-cleaners for under-hood applications. Applications include agriculture, construction, and stationary engines. Material is coated steel. Air flow 53 to 988 cfm (1.5 to 28 m3/min) depending on product selected.

EACP: On or Off-highway air pre-cleaners for agriculture, construction and stationary applications. Material is light weight engineered plastic composite for superior corrosion and UV resistance. Can be remote-mounted or attached directly to the air cleaner. Air flow 3 to 1100 cfm (1.5 to 40 m3/min) depending on product selected.

Spinaire: On or off-highway air pre-cleaners are for agriculture, earth moving, construction, and mining equipment; as well as pumping plants, generator sets, snow removal equipment and street sweepers. Material is coated steel. Part number 123583990 is polished aluminum and coated steel. Air flow 300 to 1850 cfm (1.5 to 28 m3/min) depending on product selected.

• Determine combustion air requirement of the engine (cfm or m3/min); cfm x 0.028 = m3/min
• Consult air brochure (on product support tab) for engine displacement air flow calculations
• Choose Pre-Cleaner outlet diameter to match air intake
