P3Y Global Soft Start Valves offer a combined soft start/quickdump or soft start only option that provides safe introduction of pressure to amachine or system allowing the pressure to gradually build to a set pointbefore fully opening to deliver full flow at line pressure. These valves can be an important safetyfactor and prevent damage to tooling. These P3Y soft start valves can bemounted using a modular connector to other P3Y global air preparationproducts.   

These valves should bemounted downstream of the FRL and used in combination with valves and cylindersas a main function of protection for machinery. Installation should be made withthe soft start needle easily accessible for manual adjustment. Pressure supplypiping must be the same size as the inlet port or larger, to ensure the pilotvalve receives sufficient pressure supply during high flow conditions.

Once installed a pilot signalis received at the pilot operator, the valve shifts, closing the connectionbetween ports 2 and 3. At the same time, air flow begins between ports 1 and 2at a slow rate, controlled by the needle valve located on top of the valve.When the downstream pressure reaches approximately 60% of the supply pressure,the main valve spool opens, allowing full flow through the valve in the system.

When using the P3Y combinedsoft start/quick dump valve option, if the pilot signal or system pressure islost, the valve returns to its initial state, venting the downstream pressurethrough its exhaust port.

Note: soft start valves arenot intended to be used as emergency shut-off valves but should be placed aftera manual shut off valve.
