Parker’s FlexiLip™ seals utilize PTFE lip materials in rotary shaft applications where elastomeric lip materials fail to meet operating requirements such as temperature range, chemical resistance or friction and are an economical alternative to mechanical seals.
A mandrel formed primary lip dynamically seals on the shaft and an O-ring centered on the OD keeps the seal fixed in the bore as the shaft rotates. For temperatures <0 or >250°F, or shaft size >4”, specify profile with integrated stainless steel support band (LFN-S).
Performance capabilities of solid PTFE FlexiLip rotary shaft seals include:
• Low friction
• High surface speed
• Wide temperature range, subject to limitation of elastomer O- ring
• Ultra broad chemical compatibility
• Dry running ability in dynamic sealing applications
• Resistance to degradation, heat aging and physical property alteration during temperature cycling (subject to limitation of elastomer O-ring)
LFN-N: Mandrel-formed primary ID lip. O-ring centered in the OD for bore retention.
LFN-S: Mandrel-formed primary ID lip. Integrated stainless steel support band. O-ring centered in the OD for bore retention.
Standard PTFE lip materials include:
• 0127, Mineral Filled PTFE — FDA compliant for rotary applications
• 0204, Fiberglass and MoS2 Filled PTFE
• 0301, Graphite Filled PTFE
• 0502, Carbon Fiber Filled PTFE
• 0615, Proprietary Low Wear PTFE
Shaft Diameter Limits: 0.625” to 12.000" (16 to 305 mm)
Cross-Section Limits:
