Gask-O-Seals® are static structural gaskets composed of a uniquely designed elastomeric element molded directly into machined or formed grooves of a metal or thermoplastic retainer plate to produce a simple single-piece solution.
Integral Seals™ are structural gaskets composed of an elastomer bead edge bonded to the ID/OD of a rigid metal (or other substrate) frame or carrier plate to be used between two static mating flanges.
Advantages of their one-piece, composite design which is produced by molding processes that vulcanize the rubber sealing profile to the substrate, include:
• Ease of assembly to significantly reduce installation time and complexity compared to other sealing products
• Elimination of secondary machining of mating hardware, which reduces hardware costs
• A robust, chemically bonded seal which prevents failure due to the elastomer falling out of place during installation or in application
• Customized pre-engineered compression and fill ratios that deliver optimum fool-proof performance and eliminate necessity of re-torqueing
Gask-O-Seal® Features & Benefits:
• Elastomer element specifically suited to meet application requirements including high temp service, low temp service, high pressure conditions, vacuum, exposure to high swell fluids, or high permeation gases
• Retainer thickness: Typically specified in standard gauge thicknesses as low as .025", Gask-O-Seals can be molded into any metal, thermoplastic, composite, or even ceramic substrate with sufficient thickness where a suitable groove for molding can be specified.
• Elastomer Bonding:
• Mechanical Bonding: A retainer can be designed with mechanical locking features within the groove or rubber flow-through holes to mechanically retain the seal to the retainer.
• Chemical Bond: A chemical bonding agent is applied to the groove(s) prior to molding. During the molding process, the rubber compound reacts with this bonding agent, a process call co-vulcanization, to chemically bond the sealing element to the retainer.
• Highly customizable gasket-type sealing solution
• The integrated volume/void design insures proper sealing load and rubber resilience without a machined groove in the flanging.
• The metal to metal, pass-through loading eliminates re-torquing due to sealant creep
• Rigid structural frame allows exact seal bead placement on a thinner flange wall and around bolt holes and multiple sealed ports
• Rigid structural frame allows robotic assembly of the gasket to the flanging
• Molded or stamped features in the metal frame allow the ability of the gasket to cling to the flange it’s placed on while maneuvering the flange during assembly
• Separate gasketing
outside a groove or without cure-in-place gasketing allows faster, cleaner
serviceability
• The structural frame
allows sealing multiple ports with high pressure differential across the
same flange, with one gasket
• Through-hole bolt holes
can be sealed independently of the main flange with the same gasket
• Bolt retention features can be molded into the gasket to allow bolts to be partially inserted without separation from the flange
