Easy to install outside lip rotary shaft seals for applications with a rotating bore and stationary shaft are available from Parker in a variety of springless and spring-loaded designs. The outside lip rotary shaft seal provides positive retention of grease or oil in rotating bore applications such as conveyors or agriculture and ground engaging equipment.

Materials of construction include springless or spring-loaded elastomer sealing lip for oil and grease retention against the rotating bore and a composite rubber/aramid fiber (Clipper® oil seal) inside diameter which creates a tight fit on the stationary shaft.

In spring-loaded designs a stainless steel garter spring provides constant, uniform load of the lip on the bore for the life of the seal. The spring keeps the elastomer lip in contact with the bore during higher speeds and also helps offset normally occurring compression set and wear of the lip material.

Note: Bore finish is critical since it serves as the dynamic sealing surface.

Available designs:
• Springless: SS profile
• Spring-loaded : LUP, LPD, LDS (with secondary springless dust-lip), RUP, RPD

Standard Lip Materials Include:
NBR: Temp -20F / +250F
FKM: Temp -40F / +400F

Maximum Bore Surface Speed:
OL-SS: Up to 2000 fpm (10.2 m/s) depending upon pressure
OL-LUP, OL-LPD, OL-LDS: Up to 3200 fpm (16.3 m/s) depending upon pressure
OL-RUP, OL-RPD: Up to 2,000 fpm (10.2 m/s) depending upon pressure

Maximum Pressure: 0 to 7 psi (0 to 0.48 bar), depending on seal design and bore speed

Size Range: 1/4 to 65 inches, depending on profile (6.4 to 1651mm)

Maximum Shaft Dynamic Runout (TIR): 0.010” (0.254 mm)

Maximum (STBM) Misalignment: 0.010” (0.254 mm)

Typical Applications:
For grease and oil retention where the bore rotations and the shaft is stationary such as conveyors or agriculture and ground-engaging equipment.
