o Each gasket laser-etched with an identification denotes the following:
 Materials of Construction
 Date and Shift of Manufacture
 Material batch numbers
• Compression control on sizes 1” and larger
o Minimizes intrusion/recess of the gasket into the ferrule
 Prevents gasket material breaking off into the product
 Enables easier cleaning at the gasket/fitting interface
• Outer diameter clips on sizes 1” and larger
o Guarantees proper gasket alignment

Parker currently offers gaskets with both the plastic and rubber portions meeting FDA standards. Based on the environment, different elastomers can be recommended. The FDA approved elastomers are:

• Silicone (S0317-60) – A red colored material that offers the widest temperature range of all the material choices - going from -65°F to 400°F. This material is good in dry heat and has good ozone resistance. This material is acceptable for repeated use with dry food, repeated use in contact with aqueous food, repeated use in contact with fatty foods, and for use with milk or edible oils. This material does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
• Fluorocarbon (V1274-80) – A black colored material that offers good high temperature resistance capabilities – having a temperature range of -15°F to 400°F. This material has excellent resistance to ozone, oxygen, aromatics, and many organic solvents and chemicals. This material is acceptable for repeated use with dry food, repeated use in contact with aqueous food, repeated use in contact with fatty foods, and for use with milk or edible oils. This material does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
• EPDM (EJ590-70) – A white material that offers good temperature resistance – having a range of -65°F to 300°F. This material is the recommended material for optimal steam and water resistance and also has excellent ozone resistance. This material is acceptable for repeated use with dry food, repeated use in contact with aqueous food, repeated use in contact with fatty foods, and for use with milk or edible oils.
• Nitrile (N1069-70) – A black colored material that offers a temperature range of -30°F to 200°F. This material has excellent wear resistance – but is not as resistant to ozone as the other materials offered. This material is acceptable for repeated use with dry food, repeated use in contact with aqueous food, repeated use in contact with fatty foods, and for use with milk or edible oils.
• EPDM (E3609-70) – A black material that offers good temperature resistance – having a range of -65°F to 300°F. This material is the recommended material for optimal steam and water resistance and also has excellent ozone resistance. This material also has slightly better abrasion resistance than the white EPDM. This material is acceptable for repeated use with dry food, repeated use in contact with aqueous food, repeated use in contact with fatty foods, and for use with milk or edible oils.
