Item Information

Particles result from wear; this is inevitable when operating machinery. It is imperative to know, not just the number of particles which pass through your system, but also the size and metallic composition. The MWDS goes beyond normal protection systems, allowing you to monitor in real time and take action on the first indication of change and rate of change reducing operating risk and helping to prevent failure and downtime.

The MWDS can be mounted within almost any fluid circulation or lubrication system, on many types of machine. Proven inductive coil technology, combined with smart algorithms provide ferrous and non-ferrous metal particle size distribution counts.

With Modbus or CANopen, plus an alarm loop, the MWDS can be easily integrated into existing condition monitoring control systems, putting the user in control. Whether it's checking the health of the machine or alerting to changing wear patterns, the MWDS provides continuous information, complementing existing laboratory oil analysis programmes which helps the user make informed maintenance and planning decisions.

The rugged, compact and stable MWDS has marine DNV certification and will monitor engines and gearboxes in ship propulsion systems. MWDS is available for hazardous areas with ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 rating for gases and is particularly suited to monitoring critical machinery in oil and gas and petrochemical applications, such as top-drives.

Condition monitoring of machinery lubricants is an established method of predicting and avoiding machinery breakdown. Worn components can be identified early and replaced before any serious damage occurs. Production can be maintained, machinery life extended and the return on capital investment increased.

Features and Benefits

• Monitors ferrous and non-ferrous metal particles from any wear mechanism
• Histogram (binned) output of 10 sizes per metal type give high resolution
• Total counts and wear rates (particles per minute) for trending
• Alarm settings for rapid alert to high counts and events
• Standard DNV or ATEX and IECEx version for challenging applications

For more information or a detailed discussion about your specific requirements please contact Parker or an authorized Parker distributor.

The MWDS can be used in conjunction with other products in the condition monitoring range – such as FCS and offline FWM+ or pqL, to develop a much deeper understanding of health and operating parameters of the machine. See the recommended products section at the bottom of the page for more details.
