Parker's “S” style rubber V seal features a wide body and tapered cross-section for firm hold on higher speed rotating shafts and a flexible lip which seals against the counter face.
Parker's “S” style V seal, also called a V ring, features a tapered cross-section and heavy duty wide body which takes a firm hold of higher speed rotating shafts. It is primarily used for the exclusion of dirt, dust or water as well as retention of grease or other viscous fluids. The V seal may also be used as a secondary seal to protect primary seals by excluding contamination in hostile environments.
How it works: The seal body has a stretch fit on the shaft and the flexible lip seals against the counter face. As the shaft rotates the seal also acts as a slinger. Centrifugal force produces a decrease in contact pressure of the elastomer lip as speeds increase – keeping frictional losses and heat to a minimum.
