Spring loaded single lip Parker oil seals are primarily used for oil or grease retention. Various OD case designs available to suit application.
General purpose spring loaded single lip oil seals are available from Parker in materials of construction which include varying metal case OD configurations to suit the application . A garter spring provides constant, uniform load of the lip on the shaft for the life of the seal. The spring keeps the elastomer lip in contact with the shaft during higher shaft speeds and also helps offset normally occurring compression set and wear of the lip material.
Standard Designs:
SB Profile: Spring loaded elastomer ID lip. Metal case with ParKote™ bore sealant or ground OD. Most common and economical
SC Profile: Spring loaded elastomer ID lip. Rubber covered metal case OD for improved OD sealing in bores with minor imperfections and in soft alloy housings.
SA Profile: Spring loaded elastomer ID lip. Double metal case where inner case provides structural rigidity for large cross-sections. ParKote™ coating is standard.
Typical operating ranges for standard designs:
Standard Lip Materials:
NBR: Temp -20F / +250F
FKM: Temp -40F / +400F
Shaft Surface Speed: Up to 3200 fpm (16.3 m/s) depending upon pressure
Maximum Pressure: 0 to 7 psi (0 to 0.48 bar) depending on shaft speed
