Spring-loaded metal case seals for stationary shaft/rotating bore applications are available from Parker. Elastomer lip OD seals against the rotating bore. Varying metal case ID configurations available to suit the application.
Easy to install outside lip rotary shaft seals for applications with a rotating bore and stationary shaft are available from Parker. The spring-loaded outside lip rotary shaft seal provides positive retention of grease in rotating bore applications.
Materials of construction include spring-loaded elastomer sealing lip for fluid retention against the rotating bore and varying metal case designs to press fit on the stationary shaft.
Note: Bore finish is critical since it serves as the dynamic sealing surface.
Standard Designs:
OSB Profile: Metal case with ParKote™ sealant or ground ID. Most common and economical.
OSC Profile: Rubber covered metal case ID for improved ID sealing in shafts with minor imperfections and soft alloys.
OSA Profile: Double metal case where inner case provides structural rigidity for large cross-sections. ParKote™ coating is standard.
Typical operating ranges for standard designs:
Surface Speed: Up to 1000 fpm (5.1 m/s)
Maximum Pressure: 0 to 7 psi (0 to 0.48 bar) depending on speed
Size Range: 1/4 to 10 inches (6.4 to 254 mm)
Maximum Shaft Dynamic Runout (TIR): 0.010” (0.254 mm)
Maximum (STBM) Misalignment: 0.010” (0.254 mm)
Typical Applications:
For lubrication retention in electric motors, gear boxes, pumps and fans where the bore rotates and the shaft is stationary.
